Team Mission Statement
As the Club Swim Team at Auburn, we strive to grow as a team while promoting a healthy lifestyle. By providing a positive social outlet for people with a passion for swimming and competition, we hope to facilitate friendships and memories that last a lifetime.
History
The Auburn Club Swim Team was founded in the fall of 2014 and had only 6 members originally. In our first meet ever, the men placed 3rd and the women placed 7th at the University of Tennessee Invitational. During the fall of 2015, we expanded our roster to nearly 30 people.
Over the course of the 2015-2016 we began to become a threat in the south, placing 4th overall at the FSU Invitational. In 2016, we hosted our first ever home meet, the War Eagle Invitational. In 2017 we grew even more and continued to improve in meets. At our 2nd annual home meet we placed 1st overall, winning our first meet ever!
In 2018, we grew to around 90 members and successfully hosted 13 teams at our home meet. Also in 2018, 13 of our swimmers traveled to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to compete in the first ever Southeast Regional Meet. We had swimmers receive medals for placing top 3 in their events! Then, 17 members of our team traveled to compete in Nationals at Ohio State to finish the season.
We had our largest ever team in Fall 2019, with 110 members! We also had the opportunity to host the second Southeast Regional Meet, with teams from around the Southeast attending. Auburn won first place for both the men and women overall points.
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 we were not able to travel to meets, however, we still held practices. Due to this, 2021 Nationals were held virtually but we took home the Spirit Award as a result of our teams daily themes.
The biggest tradition of the Club Swim Team is the Battle of the Belt, a dual meet with Georgia Tech that occurs once every semester. The winner of this meet takes home THE Belt. We tend to host in the fall and travel to them in the spring.
